Who Is Ashley Bell? She Treated Patients During COVID. Now She's Running for Congress.

My name is Ashley Bell, a physician associate, educator, and U.S. House candidate in North Carolina's 10th district. We were praised as healthcare heroes during COVID, then watched that respect disappear once the crisis stopped making headlines. During COVID, strangers cheered outside hospitals and thanked people like us for showing up. That goodwill didn't survive contact with the rules we had to enforce, rules none of us wrote ourselves. No one clapped for that. We faced hostility from people who took their frustration with public health guidance out on whoever was standing in front of them, and it never really let up. Years later, we're still short-staffed and covering ground that should belong to coworkers who were never replaced.
